'Chicken Soup' for the Foodie Soul
I'm kicking it a little old school with my thoughts today, to the 90's to be exact and all of it's "chicken soup" glory. As I have shared prior, my passion for food extends into all aspects of my life. Not only do I focus on it daily as a nutritionist and enjoy it at home when cooking and gardening; I like to explore it when I'm out with my husband. Like many people, one thing that I particularly love is going out to dinner and trying new restaurants that honor my health and tastebuds. I always enjoy seeing the different interpretations chefs have for the foods that I enjoy.
As someone who tries to be more of an intuitive eater while attempting to stay healthy I like to put a focus on the satiety and pleasure that comes from eating. Intuitive eating means that you listen to your body as far as its hunger cues, uses a satisfaction factor, and always includes exercise for your overall health and well-being. Intuitive eating allows me to enjoy my meals out and appreciate trying local tastes. Living in America's Farm-to-Fork capital we definitely have a growing foodie scene that is fresh, local, and delicious. Side note, I actually drove by the water tower the day the new sign went up in the capital of California. As a self-proclaimed foodie it was an exciting thing to witness even though it felt odd to be officially changing the 'City of Trees' slogan.
Essentially, the "chicken soup" for my foodie soul if you will, is going out to dinner with my hubby. We both like to take our time when eating so going out to dinner really ends up being good quality time for us. Also, we try to be adventurous when we dine since we are most likely trying things we wouldn't prepare at home. Wine or cocktails are typically alongside our meals to further enhance our dining experience as well. In my opinion you can never go wrong with a good bottle of red wine or a Moscow mule. The only question we have to answer now is, where to next?
